About the Council

Community councils are the modern equivalent of Parish Councils which used to exist in Wales and still do in England. They are statutory bodies with powers granted by the National Assembly, as an elected tier of local government.

Trallong, Penpont and Llanfihangel Nant Bran Community Council's role is to represent the interests of community and influence other bodies to do so. For example, the council is consulted by the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority for all planning applications in our community, the council liaises with Powys County Council to ensure the community gets the services it requires and community councillors represent the community on the school's governing body and the Village Hall committee.
